What are chemical peels?
Skin peels are a chemical exfoliation, with the purpose to speed up the skin renewal’s process. It gets rid of the dead skin cells on the top layer to reveal a brighter complexion.
There are three types of peel: superficial, medium, and deep. Please note we only offer superficial and medium peels at Aesthetics Life.
Superficial, or ‘lunchtime peels’ is when a mild acid is used to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. This peel refreshes the skin and requires no downtime post treatment.
A medium skin peel is when a different acid is used to penetrate the outer and middle layers of the skin. As it penetrates deeper, some patients do experience some mild tingling. The ingredients in the peel remove damaged skin cells. It can improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as freckles. It has a smoothing effect on rough skin.
At Aesthetics Life we use AlumierMD products. These are medical grade skincare products, not readily available on the highstreet and are only obtainable from medical professionals such as ourselves.
What skin conditions are chemical peels used to treat?
Skin concerns such as pigmentation, acne and dark spots can be helped with chemical peel treatments. Of course, if you are after a more youthful complexion, then chemical skin peels can also help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by promoting the skin to produce more collagen.
