Botox® treatments is a growing trend and there are no sign of it slowing down. During discussions wit my patients on why they have chosen to have botox injections they comment and say they wont consider surgery because of the higher costs involved, the increased asociated risks, and the extra downtime required after the procedure. As dentists, it is the perfect opportunity when carrying out dental cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening or teeth straightening that we can look at the whole ace as one and compliment other dental treatments. In addition as experts in the facial anatomy and injection techniques its a no brainer fro dentists and their patients to work together to perform botox treatments.
Lets dig deeper into the reasons why non surgical treatments such as botox has increased.
The main reason is the speed of the process and also the recover period after the botox procedure. I have many patients that attend at lunchtimes and then immediately go back to work after the botox.
The botox is relatively affordable (my patients know how much is needed for a year and therefore can budget accordingly, as I will give them a 2 year plan during the assessment).
Subtle – botox can give a natural look if used in the correct doses and concentration. Most of my female patients are undertaking the treatment for themselves, and the majority don’t tell their husbands or their mums so want a natural look that no one else can tell that they have had the botox procedure.
